Bio Energy

There is increasing demand to supply Australia’s transport industries with alternative bio-fuel options for blending. Currently 2 per cent of all fuel (B2) is produced from renewable resources with Government and Industry looking at a 20 percent blend (B20) by 2020. With diesel accounting for 50 per cent of Australia’s transport requirements, producing feedstock derived bio-diesel is now a critical focus for the bio energy industry.
As a strategic investment Standard Commodities has partnered with one of the world's leading bio-feedstock companies, Bioenergy Plantation Australia. With our knowledge in bio-feedstock we believe we are positioned to realise stellar growth in this sector.
Biomass offers several benefits:
- Commercially they are robust to grow, high yielding and simple to process.
- Such feedstock is grown on semi-arable land and so avoids competition with high value food production
- Biomass feedstock offers a competitive price point to synthetic oil-based fuels
The projects listed below, that we have chosen to develop, have renewable and sustainable accreditation.
