Mike Betar - Hay, Fibre & Cottonseed Report
Monday, May 14, 2012
The conditions in Australia remain very good for all agricultural commodities. Weather has been favourable in the main as farmers are presently sowing their winter crops. So far looks set for another bumper season.
Production of all types of hay and fibre is steady and as well this month we commence the cotton ginning period so Cottonseed will become available for export as well from May to October.
We are working with ship companies to reduce ocean freight rates however we do need to build volumes to do that so any business support would be appreciated.
The Australian dollar was steady at range 1.03 vs USD$ last month but has now dropped to parity on the back of the political instability in Greece. With the potential to drop further it is creating easier conditions for exporting.
